Yoga for beginners
If you thought that in order to begin yoga you should be able to do “what you see on tv”, let us reassure you. There is yoga for beginners and is called Iyengar Yoga. BKS Iyengar brought yoga to the West in the 1960’s. He believed in body intelligence and that if the practitioner focuses on body alignment he/she can develop full mind and body consciousness and balance. During exercise, the student holds a pose for a long period of time while he/she uses tools such as cork or foam blocks, belts, blankets and pillows to achieve and maintain correct alignment.
